With this T4T tutorial, students learn a strategy to identify voices and perspectives that should be considered when learning about local histories. Students learn about the value of listening to a range of voices and perspectives when learning about a historically important person, event, place, or idea. Students use criteria to rate the potential usefulness of voices and perspectives when learning about local histories. Designed to support inquiry into local histories, this tutorial includes instructional suggestions for teachers (introducing the strategy, practicing the strategy, applying the strategy to learn more about a local history, and assessing use of the strategy) and resources for students (activity sheets, source material, and self-assessment rubric).
