Supporting Success for New Teachers
What Is This?
This series from The Critical Thinking Consortium (TC²) equips new teachers for success by offering practical tools and conceptual foundations to begin the year with purpose and confidence. The series helps new teachers develop coherence in their practice by grounding instructional decisions in clear criteria, thoughtful task design, and relational classroom cultures.
What's the Focus?
The course introduces the core architecture of quality thinking in accessible segments:
- what it means to grow a community of thinkers
- how to design meaningful opportunities for thinking
- how to strengthen thinking competencies, and
- how to use guidance to move learning forward
Each component is unpacked through real classroom examples and ready-to-use planning tools that help teachers immediately translate ideas into actions.
How Is This Different?
- This research-informed series builds critical thinking capacity in early-career teachers complement school district initiatives and goals
- Online sessions and customizable options provide equitable access to quality professional learning
Who Is This For?
- First year and early career teachers (up to 3 years)
- Occasional and long-term occasional and supply teachers
- Teachers new to the district/organization

- Instructional practice that is consistent and coherent with district approaches

What Might Participation Look Like?
- Five-hour learning series
- Flexible scheduling options to maximize participation and support manageable release time
- Online or in-person options available
- Available as a customized annual licence for all early career teachers (up to 3 years), occasional and long-term occasional teachers, and teachers new to the board/organization. A per person registration option is also available.
