Students anticipate the content of text to create a mindset for reading. They develop an understanding of the importance of identifying features that provide clues about the content of text and of the value of anticipating the content of text prior to reading. It includes instructional suggestions for teachers (introducing the concept, exploring the concept and assessing student understanding) and resources for students (introductory activities, data chart, text samples, student guide and self-assessment rubric).
