Students review background information (accessed online) about the murders of five members of an Irish immigrant family (the Donnellys) in rural southwestern Ontario in 1880. Students then use the evidence found in the testimony of the only eyewitness to the murders to write a one-page background piece describing the economic, cultural and social life in of Biddulph Township at the time of the incident.
