Connecting facts to conclusions

Students learn to write well-structured paragraphs that organize facts to support an overall conclusion. They develop an understanding of the importance of recognizing when supporting facts connect directly to the conclusions they uphold and using techniques to effectively organize and link facts to support an overall conclusion. This tutorial includes instructional suggestions for teachers (introducing the strategy, practicing the strategy, reinforcing the strategy, applying the strategy to everyday teaching, and assessing use of the strategy) and resources for students (introductory activities, data charts, student guide and self-assessment rubric).
