Creating Thinking Systems
Part 3: A conversation with senior leaders from Greater Essex DSB

TC2-Rethinking-Education-Podcast_sm.jpgIf you’re anything like our guests in this special podcast series, you're thinking about how to approach school improvement in critically thoughtful ways. Maybe you’re working on the next steps to enhance administrators’ abilities to examine data and how to effectively monitor progress towards your district’s goals. Or perhaps you’re reflecting on how you might nurture greater cohesion, alignment, and intentionality on your senior team. Even as you find rest and rejuvenation during the summer months, we know you’re already thinking and planning with your teams about what you want to tweak and fortify about your work next year!

In the series Creating Thinking Systems, sponsored by OPSOA (Ontario Public Supervisory Officers’ Association), Usha James, TC² Executive Director, talks to senior leaders about their journeys and how taking a critical inquiry approach has guided system change and improvement.

In this third episode of the series, Usha welcomes two guests from the Greater Essex DSB in Ontario:

  • Vicki Houston (Director of Education)
  • Kari Bryant (Superintendent of Education)

Having both recently embarked on new leadership roles, Vicki and Kari reflect on their experiences of intentionality while navigating significant system-wide change, all while improving data literacy, reconstituting the leadership team through fostering alignment and cohesion, and ultimately reuniting the district to a student achievement-driven footing.  Finally, Vicki, Kari, and Usha take a look forward to carrying on the work into to the upcoming school year.
