About the resources

Welcome to the Learning for All facilitator’s guides. These resources are designed to support facilitation of professional learning focused on the differentiation of instruction and assessment to meet the needs of all learners. The professional learning opportunities featured in these modules use case studies to explore responsive and differentiated instructional practices. These resources feature a critical inquiry approach that encourages educators to make decisions regarding the differentiation of various aspects of instruction and assessment using ideas from various professional readings, videos, and other sources along with information from sample student and class profiles. Each resource also includes opportunities for educators to integrate new learning into their own practice and teaching and learning materials. Facilitators leading professional learning sessions are encouraged to invite participants to supplement session materials with examples and corresponding samples of learning activities, assessments, and student work from their own contexts.

Initially started in 2017 as a collaborative project between The Critical Thinking Consortium (TC²) and the Special Education/Success for All Branch of the Ministry of Education of Ontario, the subsequent development of Module Two in 2019 featured collaboration between members of the Northern Ontario Education Leaders (NOEL) and TC². Our hope is that these modules will support professional learning that contributes to:

  • a deeper understanding of the current challenges facing educators;
  • a deeper understanding of challenges faced by those facilitating professional learning for educators;
  • development of professional learning materials and opportunities that are respectful and relevant to the diverse professional learning needs of educators;
  • critically thoughtful conversation about responsive and differentiated instructional practices; and
  • success for all students.
